Hi bfullam. I've fished this lake/dam quite a bit. They regularly stock it with brown and rainbow trout and on the right day you can catch a boat full. It's also got some decent sized Bullhead Catfish in there. The Smally/Largemouth bass fishing isn't spectacular, but there's some in there. I remember catching a rather large Rock Bass (pushing 1 pound) out of there. I've heard stories of Musky being caught out of there, but I've personally never seen one caught. I have pulled a nice Chain Pickeral out once.
But if you love trout but not a fan of stream fishing, it's a great plae. If you find the right hole where they are that day, it's a blast. I remember one day I was in the boat with my brother-in-law there, smoking hot Memorial Day back in the late 90s. We were out there roasting for 3-4 hours, catching nothing except a bullhead catfish and sucker here and there, cruising around the lake. Then all of a sudden we hit the honey-hole where they were that day and we each caught our trout limit within 30 minutes. They were practically jumping into the boat.
Good luck if you ever go back. And yes, it is a gorgeous area. You'll also often see bears walking along the far shoreline. There's an outdoor shooting range not even 1/4 mile up past the main parking lot as well. Lots of stuff to do at that state park!
